i kinda hate you, Jimmy Sieczka

Since I was greatly piqued with this vid, I searched around for Jimmy Sieczka’s identity. He is apparently a mentor of the International Academy of Film and Television in Cebu where I used to work.

Honestly, this guy from that “20 Reasons why I dislike Philippines ” video had a point. Actually, I agree with him. But that doesn’t mean I like the video and this bigheaded, offensive, annoying host. Well, I heard that he never said that he hated the Philippines , and he merely intended to see change to be done. Hmm.. Owkey..  He added that he would make another video, 365 reasons why he hates the US . We’ll see.

I even could not help but wonder why on earth he stayed in the Philippines for over 3 years if he hated the country so much. He must be one poor tourist that he couldn’t afford the beautiful places in the country, the amazing spots in Cebu , much less afford the fare back to US sooner.

I admit I got pissed while watching the video, even when I do agree with him. Probably because I’m obviously inclined to defend what is mine – in this case, Cebu . It’s just heartbreaking how he has never seen the beauty of the place. Most of it is true, though but some of them are just ridiculous like the chicken crowing. What? He doesn’t like our chicken’s crow? Why? What do their chickens in the US do? Bark?

Sadly enough, I can recount all too well to how every angry Filipino feels about this video, especially the Cebuano. If there are 20 reasons to dislike, there are more than a hundred reasons to love Cebu / Philippines . It’s just shameful to know the things people do to get attention. and money.

Nevertheless, let us aside our feelings and work to prove these foreigners like Jimmy Sieczka of the world wrong. . If you’re in a position to change things, do. If not, stop peeing, spitting, and littering – that’s already very good start .Our anger and defensiveness will get us nowhere.

Hassle + NPA ( as in "no-permanent-address)

seriously. this week has been a horrible week where we need to move again. Where i learned that what comes up, really must come down. Hay..

It all started mid of March when smile (my long time roommate) decided to move to another place for some reasons. It was kinda shocking how fast the decision was. We haven’t even finished a month stay in that place. Rent is really intended for 5 people otherwise if 4 will be left, dead na! It’ll be very expensive. The option would be – a replacement or 4 of us will be moving out. Urghh!
Next big hassle was when we decided to move and ask our landlord if he could give us back our deposit as the planned place requires cash deposit. It took us so long to convince them as they were given short noticed too. To make the long story short - - both parties agreed cash deposit will be given back on the 20th of April and good thing – Loi ( our new landlord) agreed that we will be giving our cash deposit on the 20th too.. Justify Full
Last and definitely the biggest hassle ever, as I said bordering on hasslefeck, is the “packing and moving out”. AGAIN!3pm- 28 of March to be exact. All of us just came out from a night shift. No sleep! Called the office to file for an emergency leave and I called for sick. (ngerr).
So now we all started packing. I just realized we were doing the same thing a month ago and now here we go again but as Dubai popular expression goes.. “What to do?” darn! Marjorie even took a week to move and u just don’t know how they were so pissed when we decided to move but again.. What to do? We rented a truck for the transfer. Few things were brought by hand. It sucked big time! Urggh!
But at the end of the day, It was just so amazing how fast we were able to settle. We were completely moved in half a day and finalize the arrangement the following morning. And again were set.
it just sucks so bad that when everything goes great, you can't totally feel happy and at ease, because there's always the threat that it'll all blow up in your face. I’m usually such a sun-shiny person and I’m very optimistic, but after this week, i really just can't help but feel bad now.
hmm. Apparently that's it. Oh well. Maybe next week will be better. After all, they do also say that when you're down, there's no way but up. Still, i'd be missing smile.. :-)

  • "a proud man is always looking down on things and people; and, of course, as long as you're looking down, you can't see something that's above you."
  • " Pride comes before a fall"
