Larceny of Photos are unrestrained in the internet. Be Careful.

Day after i got back from a week vacation from Cebu,, I received an offline message from a friend asking me to buzz her as soon as i get online. When asked what was it about,, She confirmed with me if im aware about my bikini picture posted on Mandaue Technical Institute Batch 2007 Facebook account. (http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=110069095697116) I didnt know how to react on the issue.

My pictures has been a stolen by Mark Anthony Rivaca. (Kram Acavir account in FB) See photo below.

I would not have minded if I was asked if it would be okay to put my photo on their page. In fact, I would have been flattered. Also, it has been cropped as the picture has my name labeled on it. I don't recall having told anyone it's okay to not only steal my photos, but also tamper with them and post them on a different website.

I sent an email to Christine Ouano Obregon (President of MTI Batch 97) asking her to deal with it as she has access to the account. I also thought of her being responsible to actually screen whatever is posted on the account as they are carrying Mandaue Technical Institute logo on the primary picture plus all content on the account can be viewed in public. She responded that she thought i was Rivaca's gf (yuck!?) and that she didnt recognized me. She assured that there wont be photos posted to those who arent part of their batch which should have been done to begin with. I appreciate her getting back on me right away. I thought is was cased closed. but few minutes later, I got another email from her.. "and where did you see from facebook dictating us on what to comment? also, there is no malicious intent on it. " I took a while to think how the hell she thought that there wasnt a malicious intention in posting a bikini picture on a School batch account. Ni ulbo ako kaspa sa ka bogo niya! And again, i explained to her how despiteful it was. then, i was assured again that concerned persons will be advised. but thank you anyway.

I also sent an email to Arvin Bate who is the creator of the account. He wasnt aware about it as he endorsed the full responsibility to 13 administrators of their batch. Though he admitted that he still have an access. The first reply i got from him was "biang...dili ako ga post sa imo pics...dili raba ta kaila kaau or close.si rivaca ana din tanan members diri pwede maka upload....wla jud koy gi daut ur gihilbatan bsan knsa ikaw na dili ta sood." Right away, He deleted my photos. thanks vin.

Just so it is clear, I am from batch 2000 at the Mandae Technical Instititue (high school),, Not 1997.

Karla Bianca November 22 at 8:11pm mark.. Wa koy gi post na inappropriate pictures. A picture on a swim wear on the beach is not something nga maka daut nako kay i am wearing an appropriate outfit. Ang imung pag kawat and pag post sa public account ang issue dri without my consent. kita kita ra tawn dri oi for you to do this to me. Aside from that, Kung di ta close,, doesnt mean you have the right to steal my photos. We graduated on the same school + you are my senior. That is enough for me to trust you. .

Hayy.. What are your thoughts on this? ,,Me? I was hoping for an apology or explanation, but it looks like that won't happen.

Lesson learned: Keep Facebook or other personal account restricted to those you are close with. One thing to consider also is adding a "watermark" or copyright to your pictures so that each picture says your name on it like a signature.
